Looking for a good hike in western Washington? Look no further than Tolt-MacDonald Overlook. We love going for a hike at Tolt-MacDonald and it is probably our most visited location. Tolt-MacDonald is a beautiful hike in Carnation, WA. The hike starts with a bit of a climb at the beginning, but once you get to the top it is fairly flat and wide. There are a number of routes and trails to choose from so it’s very much a choose your own adventure type hike. We like to take a route that makes a loop and it ends up being about a four mile hike round trip. We love taking our dogs Tolt-MacDonald. It’s usually not too busy and once you get to the top you will hardly see anyone. Also, if your dog likes to swim, like our German Shepherd does, there is a river near the beginning of the trail where they can swim.
